SWIR Vision Systems, based in North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park, is a global leader in colloidal quantum dot (CQD®) shortwave infrared (SWIR) imaging technology. Our patented CQD sensors deliver high-resolution, cost-effective SWIR imaging, enabling breakthrough applications across industrial, automotive, defense, and consumer markets.
Founded in 2018 as a spin-out from RTI International, our team has spent over a decade advancing CQD technology—transforming what’s possible in infrared imaging. Our flagship Acuros CQD SWIR cameras are now deployed worldwide, empowering engineers and innovators with extended-spectrum vision capabilities.
A New Chapter with onsemi
In July 2024, SWIR Vision Systems was acquired by onsemi (Nasdaq: ON), a Fortune 500 leader in intelligent power and sensing technologies. This strategic acquisition integrates our CQD SWIR technology into onsemi’s industry-leading CMOS sensor platform, accelerating the development of compact, scalable, and affordable SWIR imaging solutions.
Together with onsemi, we are expanding the reach of SWIR imaging—enabling systems that can see through fog, darkness, plastics, fabrics, and silicon—and unlocking new possibilities in machine vision, autonomous vehicles, surveillance, food inspection, and more.
